After the revolution of 1959, 90% of the 15.000 Cuban Jews left mainly to The United States. The New Cuban constitution prohibited all form of religiën, a fact that brought the remaining Jewish community close to Extiction. With Chanouka at the background, a symbool for freedom of faith, the film illustraties the jewish community’s struggle to maintain it’s identity. A succesfilm struggle which reaches it’s climax with the famous visit of Fidel Castro to the Patronato synagogue in Havana.

I didn´t see the film, but I agree with the gentleman who says something like “I don´t want to be tolerated, I want to be accepted and have my beliefs and positions respected”.
